Richard came in
looking around and when he spotted her, he just went to where joke was seated
and sat across her. The look on his face said it all, he was still upset and he
could not hide it from her, at first joke wanted to reach out by touching him
but Richard made it clear he was not interested in doing that.
She cleared her throat and joke said the reason why she
wanted both her and Richard had to see each other was because she knew how much
she hurt Richard. It didn’t seem easy because she did not know if Richard was
the same person she was with during those years. Richard looked more serious
and was not looking passionate and understanding. She went on saying that she
was sorry for all she put Richard through and that she deserves whatever
treatment Richard had to give her. Last night she said she lost control because
she didn’t know how to react after seeing Richard. He didn’t seem interested in
what she was saying the only reason why Richard came was to know why she wanted
him there. She now cut to the chase joke told Richard how happy and excited she
was to see him again because she was not happy with herself. It turned out that
the person she left Richard for cheated on her also with another woman. She
told Richard of how she caught both of them red handed and that she regretted
ever leaving Richard in the first place. Joke begged Richard to get back with
her to go back to the way things were between her and Richard.
Richard was speechless at first but later convinced her that
what he had for her then was so serious but now things have changed. Richard
told her that he didn’t want her to feel bad about herself, so he told her he
didn’t feel anything for her like before. The moment he said those words joke
didn’t believe what she was hearing.
Joke never thought she could hear Richard say those words
considering the way she thought Richard was still the same caring, understanding
guy she used to know. She definitely brought out the beast in him when she
broke his heart. Richard told her that he wished he felt something but the love
he felt was gone and Richard said it would be best we didn’t see each other.
Joke was shocked and dumbfounded, it came as a huge surprise
to her as Richard was about to leave joke fell on her knees in front of him
trying to get Richard to reconsider. She said she had changed and that this
time things would be better that he just needed to give her another chance.
Richard couldn’t stand the fact that she was humiliating herself in public so
he said to her “stop being so ridiculous” but nothing seems to matter to joke
anymore since Richard left her on her own there in public and alone.
Joke felt alone an abandoned at that point she felt like
disappearing but she said to herself that she was not giving up on Richard.
Richard was lost in thought while driving back home, he felt
sorry for joke. He did not know if he did the right thing or not but he still
stood his grounds telling himself he was not going back to her. The weekend was
over and work was to resume the next day. Richard felt a little bit relieved
that work would take more of his time by taking his mind of personal issues.
Days went on, so days turned into weeks and weeks turned
into months. Richard had already forgotten about the encounter with joke.
And Richard was glad that it was over, he was checking the
records of files on his computer and a call came through his secretary informed
him that there was a lady who wanted to speak to him as soon as he asked who it
was she told him that it was a miss joke Daniels on the phone. He told her that he didn’t want to talk to
her. And she responded to his request. The moment that Richard heard the name
he was disturbed, he thought he had made it clear to her that he did not want
to see her. As the days passed into weeks and weeks passed into months. Richard
was still bothered by joke; she never accepted that it was over between her and
Richard. Richard thought she was obsessed and he refuses to take any calls that
came from joke. Richard was informed by the managing director of the company that
he would be embarking on a trip to Tokyo.
The trip was about a particular trade fair which was held
for six months and the manager director needed Richard to go for the trip to
meet people and to engage in certain business prepositions. Richard thought to
himself that it would be a good opportunity to get away. If Richard could learn
of other advance technology it would be of great value to his company and to
himself.
Richard could not express how happy he felt but he was glad
that this came in the nick of time, he would be out of the country and there would
not be any case of joke bothering him. That day Richard had gone home to park
his luggage and every other necessary arrangement were made. He already had his
passport and plane ticket. Richard wanted to bring back any type of souvenir so
he went to change his currency to the yen since it was what Tokyo citizens
spent.
Richard had boarded the plane and was in his seat, it was
his first time ever going to Tokyo to make matters a bit nerve racking it was
his first time flying. When he asked the attendant how long the trip would be
she responded as said it was a 14 hours trip. Richard thought to himself 14
hours to an unknown country. Well he was up for it since it was going to take
his mind of things.
